Oathbreaker
Oathbreaker
Belgium's progressive heavy music outfit Oathbreaker have recently released one of 2016's most groundbreaking albums, Rheia, via Deathwish Inc. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), Rheia blurs lines and dissolves the boundaries of heavy music as we know it today.

Oathbreaker, who formed in 2008 in Ghent, Belgium, released their debut full-length Maelstrom in 2011 on Deathwish, which was followed by the critically-acclaimed Eros Anteros full-length in 2013. On Rheia, Oathbreaker have unveiled a deeply personal album that showcases the artistic strength that vulnerability brings.
Cult Leader
Cult Leader
Cult Leader are the next evolutionary leap forward for three-quarters of Gaza, arguably one of the best metallic bands of the last decade. After the early 2013 dissolution of the aforementioned band, remaining members Michael Mason, Casey Hansen, and Anthony Lucero were joined by bassist Sam Richards to form this brand new beast.

"Nothing For Us Here" the debut from Cult Leader will hit stores April 15th, 2014 via Deathwish.

"Nothing For Us Here" is a complex crusher as you would expect. Brilliantly heavy, technical musicianship complimented by Anthony Lucero's newfound brutal vocal delivery (previously he played bass in Gaza). All of it coming together as an unconventional tangle of metal/hardcore/punk wreckage. Proving that even in their primordial state, Cult Leader are capable of standing as contemporaries Converge and Coalesce as new monsters of the aggressive music genre.
Khemmis
Slow, loud, heavy – this is Khemmis, a four piece doomed rock 'n' roll outfit from Denver, Colorado. Khemmis combines the gloom of Black Sabbath, the soaring harmonies of Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden, and the visceral intensity of YOB and Neurosis.

No regurgitation. No gimmicks. No trends.

In July 2015, the band released Absolution, a six track, forty-minute journey through transcendent melodies and pure auditory annihilation. Recorded with Dave Otero (Cobalt, Primitive Man) and Shane Howard (Wayfarer, Martriden) at Flatline Audio, the album earned praise from listeners and critics alike. Decibel Magazine named it the #9 metal album of 2015, while Pitchfork selected it as their #5 release of the year. It earned accolades from NPR, Apple Music, Invisible Oranges, Noisey, and No Clean Singing, among others.
Jaye Jayle
Jaye Jayle
Fans of the aggressive cacophony of Louisville's Young Widows may be surprised when frontman Evan Patterson's restrained acoustic guitar greets them at the top of ...It's Jayle Time!, the debut full-length from Patterson's singer-songwriter alter ego Jaye Jayle. The record follows the eponymous protagonist through a fever dream of sex, booze, loneliness, and demons out on the barren range of New Mexico. In the studio, Patterson is joined by a loose assemblage of Louisville musicians that includes Jonathan Glen Wood (of Old Baby), Lowe Sutherland, Jim Marlowe (Tropical Trash/Astro Black Records) and more.

Eschewing a traditional LP release, ...It's Jayle Time! will be released as a series of limited 7" singles throughout 2014. First up is "Pull Me Back To Hell" b/w "Evil Windows", out in January via Sophomore Lounge. Subsequent singles are expected to arrive thereafter through Hawthorne Street Records and Jade Tree.
